Here is the situation. When I play certain movies at my grandparents house the picture fades from bright and clear to fuzzy and dark every few seconds. On other dvd's the picture works fine. These are not burnt movies they are movies that I have rented and some that I own. Old and new. I have tried two different dvd players and they both did the same thing...I even brought the dvd player to my house and it worked fine so Im eliminating that. Ive tried two sets of rca cables and two vcrs and two different tv's at their house. So Ive pretty much eliminated everything I can think of. They have dish satellite which I unplugged from the vcr on each tv I tried but if that was the problem why would some dvds work? and the movies that didn't work work at my house. HELP Please!!

Hey there. It is a common problem and I will tell you how to solve it. The problem is not the dvds OR the dvd players. The problem lies with the VCR you have the dvd player hooked up too. VCRs have MACROVISION copy protection and if you hook the vcr to the tv and then the dvd player through the vcr, the picture you described is the result caused by the macrovision. You need to run the vcr seperately to the tv from the dvd player. And, of course the dvd player strait to the tv without connecting to the vcr. If it's an old tv at your grandparent's house with only one connection, then just just unplug the rca wires from the back of the vcr and then into the dvd player and you'll just have to swap them out like that. Hope this helps! Been there done that...LOL! :-)

Not all dvds can play on all dvd players...read on the dvd if it is duel layered disc...some players can't read both layers.
