bonds won 4 straight mvp awards and has always been considered the best player to play in this era but i was looking at his stats and he only led the majors in HRs once and he never has tons of RBIs like some other guys so what makes him super great and superior to guys like arod, pujols, manny, and many other superstars? is it cause he hardly strikes out, or all of his walks. or am i overrating HRs and RBIs and underrating stats like OBP and slugging average and walks, and strikeouts? i cant seem to grasp how good bonds was cause he really never lead the majors in RBIs and HRs except once.

Everything you said about Bonds means nothing. Cheating doesn't count. He's not the best hitter and never was the best ballplayer of this era or any other era. As a young player he was good, maybe even on the verge of greatness but that all disappeared when he started taking the juice. There were many, many players that were better than Bonds and had much more talent as well. I don't understand people like you. It's like you can't see the forest because of the trees. Bonds has no integrity. He's a cheater! Don't you get it??

Several good players used steroids to get even better, and out of that group Bonds became the best long ball home-run hitter. He may or may not still use steroids, but he is persisting in his attempts to break the all time record so some will be fooled into thinking that since he can still hit homers, he didn't need steroids to do so. But as I said, he was always a good player, and being able to still hit homers disproves nothing about his past use.
He will sooner or later break Aaron's record, and nobody who cares about such records will give a damn - as they will know it's only the record for the best hitter among the steroids users.

It's called 'roids... and how can ppl believe even if he wasnt taking them he'd be great? if that was the case HE WOULDN'T BE TAKING THEM ...I've studied up on Bonds and he was a great athlete since he was a kid but he would not be this great without the help of drugs at this age. I 100% believe he would not be "chasing" Hank Aaron's record without steroids therefore I agree with Schilling.. his stats should be wiped out.. there is not excuse to cheat in baseball. I will give credit to where credit is due.. Bonds was still great before the help of drugs

what makes him so much better is dedication, discipline, and work ethic. stats aside, he is and always has been the first player to thegame and the last to leave. for crying out loudit doesnt matter what day of the year it is he takes 1000 hacks in the cage, on top of what ever the team is doing. and you can say what you want to say about steriods, but if i juiced you up and sent you you to face roger clemens i would bet my life that you are going to hit a homerun. people just dont get that there is so much more into it than that. its pitch selection wich by the way if you havent noticed he just doest swing at bad pitches ever!!! it is timing, it is bat speed and msot of all it is a fundimentally sound swing. barry bonds was hitting homeruns long before this and he will continue to hit them as long as he plays because his mechanics are flawless. i should know my uncle tells me all the time, oh yah and by the way is has the all time hits record, yeah thats right pete rose. so if my uncle says his swing is flawless i am taking it to the bank because there is no one else that would know better.the stat that sticks out the most to me that has nothing to do with steriods at all is his homerun to strike out ratio. and whenever you can draw more walks then an entire team in a season , then i think it i safe to say that he is very disciplined at the plate, he doest make mistakes. and to top all of that off, try going to the plate being barry bonds and haveing to deal with death threats, steriod use, homerun records, and everything else that he is exposed to but yet i dont know of any body else that could forget about all of that step up to the plate and hit a baseball 500ft into an ocean.

Bonds is better at NOT making outs than anyone else playing.

This is a real skill and highly valuable. Outs are bad. Not making outs is good. Bonds is the best at this.

Anyone claiming Bonds sucks, or whatever, will have to argue that outs are good. Or be a hypocrite. Or a liar. Neither of which seem to bother people in these dark times.

Bonds is the most OVER-RATED player in history. Compare his stats with Ruth's. It took Bonds twice as many games to reach these "records". And Ruth did'nt CHEAT ! Research some Bonds photos. Some from his first year, and some current ! Gee, older men do get bigger with time !

He is one of only 6 players in the 300-300 club (homers-stolen bases)

He is the only one in the 400-400 club and the only in the 500-500 club.

Wow I guess speed and power makes you great.

He's probably got the best hand-eye coordination of anyone that has played in the last 20 years or so.
