Very true. Only thing is, we haven't learned those lessons. Really, every lesson that we can learn from every war in history still applies to us nowadays-even if technology has changed, human nature hasn't. I only hope that we'll actually learn those lessons-our track record so far is abominable.
Here's to-perhaps-a better future!

Yes.

You see it every day in Congress with the demoncrats and the Republicans telling the military how to run the war. This does nothing but undercut the military and the chain of command which starts with the president. This gives aid and comfort to our enemies, but they don't understand this.

If you are trying to win a war, you do not run to any open microphone and tell whomever you want the military to withdraw, or threaten to cut funding, or our policies are wrong. This emboldens our enemies to keep hanging on and fighting because they know it is affecting our homeland.

Look for more terrorist attacks towards the elections. They know this will influence our votes, just as the TET offensive did.

traditionally, the US armed forces has by no skill entered a warzone arranged. From our revolution to as we talk, squaddies have entered attempt against in part unprepared. besides the undeniable fact that, the way our squaddies are knowledgeable and how our officiers at the instant are not certain by making use of strict doctrine (a minimum of tactical doctrine), facilitates our attempt against effectivness to evolve. Your question is extra political than tactical. In South Vietnam (the realm we supported), the government became very corrupt and innefective. Many South Vietnamese seen communism as option to their own corrupt government. Iraq is a distinctive tale. initially, we've been supported by making use of the often anti-Saddam inhabitants. besides the undeniable fact that, without a physically powerful power to regulate the stress between the Kurds, Shi'a and Sunnis, conflict ensued. there is help from the Iraqis, yet on condition that we help their faction, there lies the double edges sword we are dealing with now in Iraq.

True. No war to presumably help people by leaving them with a democratic government is going to be successful where the majority of the population considers you their enemy. Or, to look at it another way, both in Vietnam and now in Iraq, those who want to kill us cannot be detected and defeated because they are supported by a majority of the population who will let them blend in. By staying in Iraq, the US is, if anything creating more terrorists, not less. Eventually, people referred to Vietnam as a "quagmire" with "no light at the end of the tunnel." Sound familiar?
