1. Every year this rivalry gets bigger and bigger, it's Ohio State vs. Michigan. I probably wouldn't have said this rivalry if it wasn't for the number 1 vs. number 2 game last year.
2. The next greatest is the Texas vs. Oklahoma game. Year after year this game turns out to be one of the best. This game usually decides who goes to the Big 12 championship. Some of these games you will remember for decades.
3. This game hasn't shown how big it is in the last few years, but back in the 60's and 70's this was the great game of the year. It's Army vs. Navy. Not to mention some of the great coach's that have coached at these schools: Lee Corso and Bobby Ross.
4. USC vs. Notre Dame. This game has a lot of hype going into it and doesn't seem to execute year after year. These games were the most amazing years ago. The game in 2005 was the greatest game.
5. Texas vs. Texas A&M. Holy cow! This game may not appear one of the greatest to a lot of you, but this game has been great for many consecutive years. The game in the 2005 season was great, along with last year's game.

Well if some goof is going to say Florida-Florida State then I'll say the "Backyard Brawl" Pitt vs West Virgina. Sure Pitt has been down the last two years but this is a big rivalry for them still. Pittsburgh loves football and having the two campuses so close really adds to it. Probably rivals Ohio St and Michigan as far as how intense it is for the Northern U.S. I'd agree that Ohio St and Michigan is probably the best LATELY, not the biggest if you go back a few more years but still.

I know that on the show "the sports list" that is hosted by Summer Sanders that Ohio State vs Michigan was rated the number one rivalry in all of sports, and I would say I have to agree, there really isn't a rivalry that compares to it in hype other than perhaps in recent years the Yankees vs the Red Sox, of course this is all a matter of opinion and I'm sure there are other legitimate rivalries that could lay claim to number one but I will stick with OSU and Michigan

Its a tie!!!
Ohio State and Michigan because they just have the mosted heated rival which includes a lot of history.
BUT
Alabama and Auburn have an intense rivally! Because they dont have any other sports. Thats all they got, no NBA, no NFL, no MLB, no NHL. Just blood and guts college football. Very intense.
I am from Ohio and my roomate is from Alabama, we go to school in Ohio, we aregue all the time. Its werid that as big of a Buckeye fan as i am, I never realized how intense that Alabama football rivalry is.

Every local area has a claim. Whether its Auburn/Bama, Georgia/Florida, Okla/Texas, or USC/Notre Dame, But there are only two the every year every wants to see, and is nationally televised; Army/Navy and OSU/UM. So it has to be one of those two.and based on the fact that Army/Navy hasn't meant anything for a national title is ages, it lead to one conclusion. UM/OSU is the biggest rivalry in college football
