Out of curiosity, have you ever tried the Ouija board? Was your experience negative or positive? What happened? Did you believe it at all ,and if so, did it make you scared?

And if all you're going to tell me is it's evil and not to try it, don't bother. I can make my own decisions, and, hey, it's just a question.

Evil, no. It IS an interesting psychological game based on a physical principal. The planchette or pointer moves by what is called ideomotor motion.

Ideomotor motion is a series of very small, unconscious movements we make under a variety of conditions- Ouija boards, dowsing rods, etc. can all be shown ot be under the control of ideomotor movements.

Go ahead and play- it can be interesting to watch! Try asking the person with the planchette questions they know the answer to and see them get spelled out 'by magic'.

Well, one time my friend and I threw a birthday party for another friend of ours, just to set the scene. I brought my glow-in-the-dark Ouija board as one of the party games. During the party, we decided that we wanted to see it glow, so we locked ourselves in the bathroom and turned off the lights. Then we began to ask it questions. The first one was if we would see someone at the movies later that night. It said yes, but that turned out to be false. The next question though, it was a biggie. We asked it if anyone liked my friend. It said yes. Now comes the incredibly insane part. When we asked who, it spelled out her friend's name, Tim. At that point, we lost it and began screaming hysterically. Everyone else at the party ran upstairs and they were like 'What? What?!' We just kept screaming. Then, later, after we came back from the movies, we IMed Tim and, after much hesitation on my friend's part and much coaxing on my part, told him what had happened, but added how silly it was. He responded with 'That's funny, because I really do like you.' So, we had another scream fest, needless to say. Things have been adorable ever since then. In this instance, the Ouija board began an amazingly cute love story.

I have used a Ouija board, at midnight with my older siblings. The piece started moving and spelling my mothers name when we asked a question about death. But, it turns out that my oldest sister was moving it.... bummer. But not really. my mom is still alive. I don't believe anymore.

Hey you go for it but personally my experiences with it have all been bad and when we tried to smash the glass afterwards as we played old fashion style, it bounced and did not break from a 12 foot drop, go figure but I won't touch that again dangerous :)

The reply I acquired was once ample to force me clear of using Ouija forums endlessly. I accept as true with your mom concerning your proudly owning one. - LJS
