I was 4 cm dilated and 90% effaced at 28 weeks with my first child. When you go into labor you will have contractions you feel. You may have a fast labor. I went into labor with my third at night. I got to the hospital at 4:20am and had her by 6:11am.

oh that for sure,u can go into labor without any contractions.am talking from experience.am a mother of 2 and with my first,i was at the gym watching a basketball game and my water just broke.i had no contractions what so ever not even the nite before or anything.with the 2nd,same thing happen,no contractions again.was take a nap and my water broke again.so ya u could go into labor with out any contractions at all.and i think it might be different for each woman.

This was exactly my case with my baby.. it's a good sign meaning that ur labour will very likely be not very long . however u'll be having later some pain (may be tonight!!) especailly around 5 or 6cm.. good luck!

Yes, but everyone is different. I have 5 kids and all pregnancies were different. If you are already 4 cm dilated I would take it easy because it could be anytime now. :)

Yes, and if the amnionic sac isn't ruptured yet, they pinch it to rupture it.
