MADE, FROM THE HEART PREFERABLY!

The answer depends on the person that's receiving the gift. There are many people, unfortunately, who do not appreciate something hand made and only place "value" on things that have been purchased from a store.

If you're concerned about how the person will feel about your gift, then you need to do what will please them and not yourself.

If it's more important to you that you give a gift that's been made by you, regardless of how the receiver will react, then you're seeking self-gratification, not in making another person happy with your gift.

Happiness for the person receiving the gift is the most important aspect of this situation.

If you make something for someone then it is much more appreciated. Especially if you are going to give it to a female member of your family. Us moms LOVE to have things made by our children. If you know of something that the person wants and you know that you cannot make it (like a cd) then just buy it for them and then make a hand made card to go along with it. The thoughfullness will be evident which in turn will make the store bought item even mor cherished! Good Luck!

If the gift is for your own mother then she would appreciate either but it would be dear to her heart if you made her something (she would keep it forever). If it's a friend then only make them something if you are both creative in the same field of interest. Otherwise, buy the person something but make sure it's something they have wanted for a while and couldn't afford.

it's good either way really, making something is more creative and comes from the heart. You can put more thought into a gift that you make. As for the buying someone a gift it also comes from the heart and its just as good. Its how creative you are with choosing the gift.

I think it depends on who the recipient of the gift is. Some people appreciate hand made gifts or something from the heart while others don't like that sort of thing. If it is something you know they like that you can make then I say make it.

me personally....I*d prefer something home made.
store bought gifts are so impersonal and meaningless...you spend all of maybe 10 minutes looking and then you say I think so and so would like this, and it is within my allotted price range, pay for it, and it*s all done. Homemade things come from the heart with all the love you want to convey. Thought, time, and emotions go into the gift and that makes it so much more meaningful.

A gift should always come from the heart and be appropriate for the receiver. If something you've made fits this description, then it's a good gift.

To have a home made gift is priceless. It depends on what it is. When my kids make me gifts from school, I wouldn't have it any other way. If you are good at what you do as far as making something for someone, trust me they will love it.

It really depends on the recipient. Some people really appreciate the effort put into a home made gift. If you think they would NOT appreciate it, then go with store bought.

If you can make something that the person will like--do that. If they are not the type to appreciate your art--buy them something.
