It means that any info sent over your wireless network can be intercepted by anyone with a wireless notebook and then that info can be converted and decoded to text and they can see any personal info you transmitted, such as SSN, Credit card numbers, passwords and such.
Remember, your wireless network is basically a RF Transciever, like a walkie talkie. All someone needs is the right equipment to hear you, or in the case of wireless networking, see you.
Turn on your wireless security and sleep a little better....

It means that other people may be able to see what you're doing on the internet and steal information because that wireless network isn't secure. If you're using a open access wireless network don't send personal information or log into websites that need your ID and password.

Not may be, is visible, which means anyone looking for a way to break into a system or rob someone can watch the packets and find everything the need. This does not pop anything up anywhere.

no, it means if i were to put a sniffer on your wireless network, i could see the information that you and the web site are sending to each other. the data is open, not encrypted. if you are concerened about that, like when you visit a coffee shop or such, there are vpn websites, that will let you tunnel to the website with encryption and then connect you to the site you want to get to. that way a local sniffer will not be able to see your information.

It means the connection is not secure or private and that anyone else that is on that network has the ability to see what you are sending or what web sites you are surfing.
