It probably boils down to a lack of patience and empathy on the part of the adult. They probably have a misguided view on how children SHOULD behave and then when the children naturally don't, they decide that they hate children. Children can be chaotic, grumpy, whiny, cry-babies, mean, as well as sweet, kind-hearted, curious and loving. If people took the time to realize that children are just as multifaceted as adults, maybe they wouldn't hate children as much. Adults who hate children just expect too much from them. Again, it comes down to a lack of patience and empathy in the adult. Children often end up throwing curveballs into situations and the adults are not creative, patient and clever enough to resolve these issues with children in a positive way. Some adults are just grumpy and self-centered, too.

For the life of me, I will never figure that out on my own.
I don't have children but I have hundreds of great experiences with them. I have found that when you treat them as a regular person, add a little bit of playfulness, and be able to answer their questions accurately in a way they can relate to, that you can experience some of the most unforgettable and rewarding conversations.
I have also had the unfortunate experience of having to shield the daughter of a former co-worker while he was flipping out and attacking her older sister and younger brother. Her Dad - I later learned - was a highly abusive person who beats his wife and kids. When elementary school authorities were closing in on him due to their concerns about his sons obvious symptoms of abuse, he fled the state.
If I could, I would protect every child in the world, but I can't. All I can do is provide any child I encounter with the same respect that I would like.

Mabye because they`ve been stuck babysitting children all the time or mabye because they have been around too many kids that are brats to the core.That still isn`t a good reason because I`ve had both of those things happen and I still want kids,all though the kids I`m around can be a pain in the but I still love them with all my heart and would do anything in the world for them.

They don't hate all children. Just the really annoying one and the ones who won't stop asking questions and, well, that about sum up all children. Who knew?

My grandmother hated her 9 kids because my grandfather, as she said, "was always on her", so there fore my mother hated me BUT I learned a valuable lesson early on "THANK GOD" & love my son very much ! I stopped the insanity !

I have no idea- they were once a child
maybe they just htink theyr' immature and could not talk to them or compare themselves with children

some people just hate eveything and everyone and i believe it is just ingrown in them and u should really feel sorry for someone that has no heart

Really, I have to ask that question, myself. How could they hate innocence, life, laughter, unconditional love? It is beyond me.
