what kind of hard disk is it. is it an external usb or an internal. if its internal is it ata or sata. itll say somewere on the back just read the hole thing ul find it

Turn off and unplug your computer. Open the case - usually the panel on the left side. Sometimes you need to remove a couple of screws on the back and other times there is a "catch" that holds the panel that you need to press.
Once the case is open, the hard disk is usually near the front of the case toward the bottom. It will either have a wide ribbon cable and a four wire power connector at the back (IDE drive) or a thin flat cable with a four wire power connector (SATA drive).
If you are replacing the drive, you would usually need the same type. Good Luck!
