In mentioning the word manifesto, do you automatically think about the Communist manifesto and thus the rise of the Soviet Union etc,...or not?

Actually I usually think of some kind of religious zealot getting ready to shoot doctors that perform abortions, or other people who don't believe as they do.
To me, people who write manifestos are terrorists of one kind or another.

No, I think of some rambling incomprehensible
literary production people use to vent their frustration with the current system.

Yes, it has a little bit of an off connotation to me. Treatise, tract, and other words come off as a little less harsh.
