You have many suggestions here and may find some of them appealing to you. It is correct to say that three-fourth of million dollars is not at all a big amount for a business idea. But I notice other factors in your 3 sentence question which can be useful to you to start and run a business in India.
When talking of business, how do you feel like making moves like a business. Hire a suitable professional who could help and guide you within your "overall possessions" for a successful business.

To do business, you will obviously have to do your home-work thoroughly. The first thing is to read as much as you can on the Indian business climate. At the most, we can offer you some basic ideas here.
You can consider these two basic options:
1. Doing business in the service sector. This is the fastest growing segment today in Indian business. It is also the best place for small and medium enterprises. Given the resources you have this may be one place that you may like to research further. It could be any kind of services, i.e., tuition/coaching for competitive & entrance exams; all kinds of industrial and personal security services; beauty parlours & spa; automobile accessories & spare parts; medical and health care services; hospitality services like running a guest house; speciality restaurant like serving indonesian or kashmiri cuisine, taking a franchise of a established retail chain like Reliance Fresh (fresh fruits and vegetable retail outlet) etc. etc.
2. You can invest in funds prudentially. There are several financial products available that allow you to invest and get attractive returns over a period of 3 - 10 years. For example, there are venture funds like the one from Kotak Mahindra Bank, were you invest your money and get returns afterwards.
Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Why not consider following:
1. Food processing.
2. Paying guests in city areas.
3. Share broking business
4. Small real-estate projects in towns or suburbs of cities like Mumbai, Pune etc.
5. Placement agency ( if you have got lots of contacts abroad)

sorry friend 3/4 mil is peanuts these days in india.
ofcourse the first rule of managing money is that you
dont advertise that you have money.
India is a growing economy and anything you do will fetch
great returns .....but the politics and goondaism will take a cut.
I suggest the following
1. Elementatry, Montessori school
2. Bottled water plants.
3. food processing plants.
4. Apartment construction...
5. Women's hostel
6. Boys hostel.
7. Hotel
8. ......................and the list is endless....
Whatever you do make sure it meets the needs of the community where you operate and you'll be successful...
Good luck
