The Killers "Andy You're A Star"?

Is this song about a guy or a girl? It seems like it's a guy on a football team, and the guy singing likes him? But nobody else likes him (even though he's with a girl)... I have no idea...
Is that even remotley right?

I always thought it was about a high school wrestler. So your guess is as good as mine.
