I am 6'4" and 215 pounds, and I know I could stand to lose some weight.
I'd like to get back to my ideal weight of about 180-190.

I'm assuming that you're a male, as this is in Men's Health (can't understand WHY there so many women in this forum??)You're on the borderline of being "moderately obese", another 15 lbs and you would surely be. As a guide, I checked with JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Assn) and at 6'1" you should be hovering around the 185 to 197 (that's the TOP weight, for a large build), and at 57, it ain't gonna get any easier to drop those pounds, so cut out the junk food and if you drink (empty calories, I like to have a few cocktails, too) that only adds to the problem, as it is empty calories (being redudnant here!) and it inhibits your liver to function properly in bile production for good digestion........And remember, if you're obese, you're on the borderline of Coronary Country.....Be good to your body and say "so long" to those pesky pounds......It will be a ***** to lose them, but in the longrun, you'll be proud of yourself.....Good luck!!

I would say 190 or 195lbs would be an ideal weight. I do think that is a bit heavy though at 224lbs.

the physique fat % is greater important than the BMI. the BMI would not evaluate the physique composition or the quantity of muscle and fat that a guy or woman has. so a guy or woman could have a healthy BMI yet a severe volume of physique fat. conversely they might have a low volume of physique fat and a severe BMI. in the journey that your physique fat % is over 20% and you're below 40 you may desire to get it right down to the severe youth.
