My kids are always in the garden playing with them

as long as they do not bring them in the house....

Not all, no. I was never a terribly big bug fan, though spiders were always fascinating. But loooooads of kids love playing with bugs and worms, it's perfectly healthy - it's part fascination, part revulsion (they can be put to great use in direct contact with other kids, which is always fun), part plain wow factor at how cool and different they can be. If you have kids that are playing with bugs, enjoy these open-minded little human beings, they're pretty darned amazing.

No, not all kids but I sure loved them.
Well, it wasn't really playing, it was more like mass murder. I'd poke toothpicks into the worms and catch the bugs in little containers I could shake.
I'm a lot nicer now.

I think most kids will at some point in time. My 5 year old has been having a ball playing with caterpillars this springs. She will pick them up and let them crawl on her bare arms and just have a giggle fit because it tickles lol.

I think so. There's a stage you go through where the natural world is full of incredible wonders, even bugs and worms.

No - I was always afraid of hurting them when I was a kid. I used to like to watch them to see what they did but I never touched them.

No, they are just curious til something else catches their attention. Depends on that kids likes/dislikes.
