Why? He's an indoor cat and only recently started to go outdoors. I know I should go to the Vet. but until then what should I do?

It's not a flea collar, just a regular collar.

And if it's a flea allergy does this effect my health as well?

He may be allergic to the collar or the collar may be too tight. Try taing the collar of for a few days and see it it makes a difference.(keep your cat indoors during this time!)If it's not either of those problems, did you switch to a new brand of cat food, litter, or treats? Even a new flavor of food?

My now indoor cat who we never gave a collar(too many reasons to explain why) had started to lose fur on the side of his neck until he had a bald spot the size of a 3 year olds fist. We had recently switched him to a new brand of cat food and he was allergic. That was 2 years ago and the fur grew back. Call your vet though if you don't figure it out.

Hello ...remove the collar..especially if it's a flea collar, your cat is long or thick haired & if going out, they need break away collars cuz they climb & if they get hung up without breakaway cat collars they ..HANG :( !!! Also make sure it isn't too tight, but no cat really needs collars anyway, flea collars are not good for much of anything, let alone killing fleas, they only kill the flea who crosses under the flea collar, justa another thing that's about $MONEY$ !! Take Care :)

The collars might irritate your cat,and the scratching will clump the fur.Basically, loose the collar. There are special collars for cats that are safe for outside, as they will come loose if the collar get's stuck behind something. My cat's don't wear collars, thet are all microchipped. Also, letting a kitty outside could be fatal if yo live in an area with traffic...
