Both the Democrats and the Bush Adm. intend to maintain troops in Iraq indefinitely.. You don't gain title to your neighbors house just because you blew it up. We definitely broke Iraq, but that only gives us the burden of sin. It does not entitle us to the Country. We need to get out of Iraq now. This folly has already cost us 3300 American lives, $500 Billion in tax money, 30.000 thousand wounded and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Some Military people are saying we would have to stay there another 10 years... Your thoughts ??

Yes, we were lied into war, and yes the lies are still flying.

The populations of both nations are clear that we collectively want the occupation to end. (source, US election of 2006; and last week a majority in the Iraqi Parliament voted to obtain a definite timmeline for US withdrawal, even as the figureheads were in Washington begging us to stay)

The US soldiers are ready to get out. They were ready a year ago. (source, http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=34538&archive=true )

Bush's own non-partisan Iraq Study Group said we shold enter negotiations with Iran and Syria and start getting our forces out of Iraq. (source, http://www.usip.org/isg/ )

The examples can be cited ad nauseum. Remember Colin Powell's moment of shame before the UN general Assembly?

I believe that the burden of proof of the administration's lies has already surpassed the requirements for a civil case (preponderance of the evidence) and could someday soon be demonstrated at the criminal level (beyond a reasonable doubt).

The worst part of it is that if they truly didn't know any of their suppositions and assertions to have been wrong, they surely should have. It's back to the old "are they more evil or more stupid?" question that is so very demoralizing either way you answer.......

I think that the reason we are still there is the mighty Bush arrogance. He is feeling his power and wants to show his authority. Why call himself "the decider" otherwise? At this point, Iraq is inconsequential and it is simply a test of wills between Bush and the Congress. He does not give a dang what the American people want. They have plainly spoken that this war was a huge mistake. To keep on a track that is plainly failing is not persistance....it is being stubborn and inflexible. This man is out of touch with reality and he needs impeachment. He does not have the guts or the grace to say he made a huge mistake so more and more will die until he leaves office and someone else can fix this mess and get our military out of harm's way. The damages Bush has done to this country will be felt for many years.

WW2 is a prime example,we destroyed Germany (like Iraq) we are still there after 60 years. As you asked about blowing up your neighbor's house doesn't give you title is true,BUT it does give you something else-- the responsibility to rebuild it. Many people forget that we have done the exact same thing for over 200 years now.Every war that we have ever won we are still in those countries. If you have any doubts just do a little research and read some history and find out for yourselves.

Well, if people would get behind the effort we could be in much better shape. But when Americans oppose the war (note that it was supported by a large majority when we invaded) that gives like-minded politicians the political cover to actively take steps to hurt the effort. You make statements you assume are fact, but are not. It's opinion. "We definately broke Iraq." What does that mean? In pre-war Iraq 400 babies a day died due to basic lack of medical care. The death rate of Iraqi citizens is roughly equal to what it was before the war, so it's not as if we've brought higher death rates there, they just die in different ways. Before it was old age and torture, now it's old age and a sectarian war combined with terrorism. But we have given them a democracy. The only question is whether or not we have the guts to give them the time necessary to sustain it on their own. We were not lied to, perhaps we were told bad information, but that's not the same thing as a lie. If you don't think Iraq had WMD, well, I just don't know what to say to you. Of course they had them, but we dicked around for so long before we invaded that they easily had time to move them or bury them or whatever they did. Every intelligence agency in the world knew they had them.

No one in politics give a d@mn about any of us... it makes me sick to look at the world today and to look at what our troops and their families are going through and to see that people want to vote for Hillary CLINTON....

4 years of Bush Sr, 8 years of Clinton, 8 years of Bush Jr.... lets see thats 20 years Bush/Clinton... why in the world would we need ANY MORE of ANY OF THAT!!!?? Look at where we are today... 20 years of these bastards isn't enough?? People want more???

The Bushs and Clintons are on the same page they just have two different images which assures that no matter what they will get what they want in the end.

Two sides of the same coin.

I don't trust that anything will change for the better military wise for us in Iraq. We will be there untill the end of time unless someone steps up and calls all this bull sh!t.

We are being lied to daily by the news media that refuses to report the accomplishments in Iraq. If you talk to soldiers that are there or just returned you will get a different picture.

No matter the label, politicians of all stripes lie. This lesson history has taught us. As far as us getting out of Iraq, if we leave now, we leave the region completely unstable. It could cause a conflict that would spill over into all the neighboring countries as they clamber for control and influence.
