ok so some one gave me a new tower but i plugged it in and nothing comes on the moniter what is wrong with this

Ask the person who gave you the tower if he/she formatted the hard disk or removed it.
If the HD was formatted, it is empty. In which case, you need to buy Windows and buy or download any free programs you would like to install.
If the HD was removed (which is what I would have done) you will need to buy one.
You can get an 80G at www.amazon.com for about $30.

you need to look and see that you connected the monitor in right place then with it turned off and unplugged open the case and look to see if it has a harddrive. check all things that your suppose to have in tower something could be missing. also you may want to ask the person you got it from what was wrong with it. most of the time if nothing shows on monitor no bios or anything its probaly the motherboard is no good or processor.

Someone gave you a computer that doesn't work.
Open the side of the case,
turn computer on
if there are beeps, you need different memory
if there are lights, you need new motherboard
if you get a POST (power on start up test, like the computer brand name but the computer still won't boot, you have a hard drive issue)

Not being there its hard to tell.Make sure all your cables are connected.Your monitor power cable to an outlet and your monitor cable to the pc.Also make sure off button on monitor is not turned off.Thats about all i can suggest.Good luck
