i have worked here for 13 months. late twice(less than 20 minutes) and late twice (2-3 hours) because sitter was late and because daycare called me to come get son with fever of 103. i have called in 3 times. one was a vacation day. it is a credit union with 6 employees. i have been written up one time for being late. i feel i was wrongfully fired. i pick up shifts whenever asked and am friendly and a good, responsible worker.

Several years ago, my RIG stacked out. On the way to the UNENJOYMENT OFFICE, I stopped at "LOVE'S TRAVEL STOP", my girlfriend worked there. She ran out & asked me if I would work weekend maint. for them. I took it but made it absolutely clear I wouldn't cut my Ponytail. The first weekend, the restaurant lost 2 people, so I took that also. Since I have Tats on both arms I had to wear Long sleeves, I kept my hair braided & tucked in my shirt. for 2 yrs. I was shorted on raises, I got 1/2 of what my boss reccomended every time, they tried to bypass my insurance coverage, On the very day I got my 2yr. pin, one of the CORPORATE IDIOTS saw my braid (inside my shirt). That evening the new Manager asked me to cut it (I refused), so he fired me. Since it was mid-shift I asked him if He wanted me to finish my shift. I waited until Mngr & ***'t. mgr. were trading shifts, I gathered all my trash and carried it out & made them both look thru every bag. then took them to the Dumpster. The asst. had no clue what had happened but I told him I was not going to be ACCUSED of theft so he would be checking my stuff before I left. Hell he even wrote me a statement to prove that all in that store KNEW I had long hair but was always braided & hidden. He also had to give me my Vacation pay(2yrs. to the day). He also pulled my work history NEVER LATE OR MIA!!! I show up for work about 30 mins early every day. And YES WE HAD MY KID & HERS. No emergency has ever made me late. BTW, NOT 1 white male working at Labor Dept. And not even 1 Atty. in OKC took this case after I turned WHITE. NOT SO EQUAL, huh? FYI- Remember that Right-to-Work bill? Guess your vote did count, eh?

Well, that is tough. I had a job with a year contract. It was with kids and they all had 'bugs'. I used ALL 14 sick days and when they were done I went to work sick! I was sick alot from the new germs. I also called in 2'ce with no pay cause my car wouldn't start in -30 weather. That year I DID call in sick alot... and I worked there a year. They didn't say anything. Oh I left early once with food posining. That is not my usual work ethic, but that year those little kids had so many new germs that my body was not used too... plus I had some stresses.. they didn't say anything!

Sounds like you need a more flexible employer (not like mine, lol.. that WAS ridiculous). My last employer let us (especially single mom's) bring our kids to work if we had too. She said 'I would rather you were on time and here when we need you...' People brought their kids frequently. She even set up a summer program for employees kids. Some employers don't get parent emergencies... 2-3 hours late is a big deal. 20 mintues late, is a big deal. But if you can't bring your kid... what do you do???

Sorry, you sound undependable to me. I work with a single parent and they have been late once because of their daycare. But late four times, called in sick three times, seems like excessive attendance to me, specially since you work in a small credit union, and that means the other five of the employees have to take up your slack. I would have given you the boot as well...GOOD LUCK!!! Where is the father he should be helping you out as well.

I worked for a large corporation where 3 incidents in a 12 month period meant action. You were hired to be there and they count on you for that especially with such a small staff. I'm sorry, I believe they were justified in their actions. Their thinking is that it's about the business and your thinking its about you and your kid. Difference of opinion here. You need to get your day care and babysitting situation under control.

You were either late, or absent seven different times in 13 months. Lady, I've had my present job nearly 4 years, and have never been late. I have missed time, but never without getting approval in advance. You seem to think that because you are only screwing things up every other month, you are doing OK. You aren't, apparently, cuz you've been fired.

This too humorous for words, yet a pair of years in the past it ought to have been me. I went to workstation class to evaluation till now i offered and the 1st element i replaced into taught replaced into the plug into the wall , then 2d is it became on and 0.33 replaced into verify for skill!!!! C-instantaneous replaced into a demonstration that I lost this technique and upon party I lost it!!! It makes you experience so clever. try determining to purchase the workstation professor 80.00 a whack thats what he would have used!!!!

You violated their attendance policy. A lot of employers have a limit for absences and tardies. You must have exceeded their limit. No matter how dedicated you are otherwise, they need you to be their when you are scheduled. If you can't be there when they need you, they have every right to let you go.

Sounds to me like you deserve to get fired.

Just because you're a single mom doesn't mean your employer should treat you any differently than anybody else.
