In the wild, box turtles eat 75% insects, worms, arthropods, etc. and the other 25% is 'fodder'- grass, leaves, mushrooms, and berries.

A diet that is too soft, sugary, or lacking in proteins or calcium causes developmental problems- but there are nonetheless many sites that suggest such things. It is pretty sad that there is so much deeply engrained misinformation about this species.

Habitat should be roomy- 8'x4' is about right for an adult or two, and a baby should enjoy about a 20 gallon long tank (although big plastic tubs make better homes in many ways).

Temps should be 'temperate' for Eastern and Three-toe Box Turtles (70's), and about 5 degrees warmer for Ornate Boxes (which are much harder to keep happy.)

Humidity is a big issue- Eastern and related Box Turtles should be kept at about 70% or higher humidity, Ornates should have a humid hiding box.

Hello..am not sure what you mean by baby, it is illegal to sell turtles under 4 inches or to take them from the wild ( not to mention taking from the wild is dangerous as they can have illnesses they are immune to, but you, your family & other pets, aren't ) ...all turtles require & need worms, beetles, things like that..among a few other things or they will ...die !! Take Care :)
