you know how you can go into the internet in the wii, well i've tried to watch videos and stuff but i can't, does anyone know if we're ever gonna have a media player
something else, can you download programs into the wii?

well there is no media player you can actually download into the wii or to the opera browser but you can see movies in certain plug-ins or you can watch movies in youtube or play games in miniclip.com or wicade.

those are the oly places i know that are compatible with the internet channel on the wii to see videos or play online games

no, sadly, but im sure 3rd parties, like brady games, gameshark, and/or pelican may come up with one.
but you actually dont need it. if you know the correct method, you could put music on your sd card, and play it while you are playing some compatible games, like Excite Truck. You can also watch videos and look at pictures (and mess with them) on the wii's photo channel.

if youre looking to watch videos on your wii, there are programs that can enable you to watch videos from your pc to the Wii. but it would be streamed from your pc so the only incentive is that you get to view your videos from your pc to the television.
you will first need a program to covert your videos on your pc (avi, mpeg, wmv) to a format the wii can recognize. its called wii video 9 and heres the link

next you would need a program to stream the video to your wii. its called wii media center and it will allow you to stream movies, pictures and music to your wii. here is the link for that

I have heard of WiiCR but it doesn't run on your Wii. It runs on your PC, but the Wii can get to it through a webpage.

As far as I know, the Wii doesn't have a media player and Nintendo won't make one for it. :)
