Yeah...but he died on me! I can't collect it, because I don't know where they buried him? And I don't think that his "boney" hands are going to pass it to me...even if I dug him up! Amount owing? About $8000.00 Dollars! I suppose I could pick the Gold outta his Teeth, pry the Ring of his finger and sell his Coffin for a Hope Chest? But that would be too much work!

Yeah, I have a business partner who still owes me $15,000 which I'll probably never see. Suing would mean that some bastard attorney would take 1/3 - 1/2 of it, and I'll be damned if that's going to happen! I'd rather write the whole thing off and let my partner's conscience deal with it until he dies.

"Help a man when he is in trouble, help him and he'll be your friend. Help him, and he will remember you when he is in trouble again."

I no longer 'loan' anybody money. If they truly need money because of desperate straits, I'll "give" it to them. By not expecting the money to be repaid, I save the grief of destroying a friendship. And, if they do eventually repay me, it's a nice and welcomed surprise! -RKO- 05/13/07

I have been in that situation. If you have already reminded them about paying you and they haven't yet. Just chauk it up as experience and don't do it again. Next time get it on paper, therefore you can take them to court with the prove of the transaction. It is really hard and leaves a lot of hard feelings.

All the time. That's just part of being in business. You bill them. You negotiate a payment plan with them. If they don't pay, you send it to collections.
