Photography is a great idea. You can probably start now, find some drug store cameras, preferably with black and white film, and start fooling around with composing pictures. Once your birthday comes around you might get a digital camera, but using the disposable cameras allows you to try out some cool effects and learn about composition.
An essential skill for all photographers is learning to edit. Take 36 photos, but only keep the 2 best pictures, and only show others those 2. That is how you get a good reputation.
Consider gardening as a hobby, it is definitely manly as anyone with a lawn can attest, it can be challenging, and when things start growing you can photograph them.
Consider cooking, start with desserts, as you can eat them, or barbecue, as manly man specialty. You can use this as another way to look at design and presentation, which circles back to photography.

This is a very broad question. Everyone is different and has different interests. Ask yourself these questions:
What do I like?
What is something I can do and not get bored of?
What are my personal interests?
A hobby depends on the kinds of things that you enjoy doing. For example, I love literature so my hobbies are reading and writing. My husband loves comic books, so one of his hobbies is collect superhero comics. You mentioned that you enjoy photography but you said you can't do that until you're birthday comes around. I am guessing that you're parents are buying you a camera for your b-day and until then, you have no camera to use. Anyways, that is a form of art, so I guess you can find a hobby related to art. Good luck and remember, there is no right or wrong hobby. It's something that you, and only you should enjoy!
Have fun!

I could suggest a lot of things, but almost everything comes down to money, doesn't it? How about the hobby of earning some money on your own? Wouldn't that be worthwhile? Then you would have a few bucks to pursue a hobby you like, even photography.........without waiting for your birthday.

How about reading up about photos.
Go to a few sites with photos, see which you like, figure out why you like them and what you like in them.
So that when you are getting you camera you know what not to try, or what to aim for.
Remember that the photos you see on the Internet are often the best of that persons work.
Much choice on the web, portraits, nature, sports, city, .....
A few sites with examples or instructions to get you started:

Start drawing. Even if you'll not good at it you can still work on your skills and that's the cheapest hobby I can think of.

Silly Rabbit had you ask yourself three questions. I have one more. "What do people say you are good at?" Quite often that will give you insight into what you like to do.
