You have a good chance of having twins. It may not happen with your first pregnancy, but it can happen either way. You may or may not have twins with this first pregnancy, but if you decide to have children after your first born then maybe it'll happen and your chances are very high in this case. I hope everything works out for you :)

The "skipping a generation" theory is a myth, but assuming all the grandmothers were along the maternal line, then yes, your likelihood of twins could be higher than the average woman.
This is simply due to the fact that releasing more than one egg -- thus resulting in fraternal twins, as you mentioned -- is a trait that tends to run in families. The fact that many of the women you mentioned happened to have fraternal twins after other singleton births also follows, as all women (in general) are more likely to release additional eggs per cycle as they age -- possibly the body's way to "use them or lose them" as the onset of menopause approaches.
If your husband's mother or grandmother had twins, or even if your own mother or grandmothers had IDENTICAL twins, your chances would be no higher than anyone else's, since the tendency to release more than one egg could not be passed to you through your husband's family and identical twins are simply the result of a random splitting of the embryo and not hereditary. But if all the conditions above apply, you might very well end up with two little babes. ;)
Hope that helps!

It's not a definate thing that will happen, but a possibility. You're probably a little more likely to have twins than the average women, but I'd still say it's at least less than 50%.
Twins come every 3rd generation for us - my generation. I'm on my second pregnancy - no twins with this one or my first. My sister had 3 pregnancies - 1st no twin, 2nd twins but lost them around 3 mos, 3rd no twin.

You still have a very good chance at having them the first time. The fact that twins skip a generation is correct but I don't think that having them after having singles is really a hereditary thing. Make sure you let your doctor know right away that you are in line for twins and they should be able to find out early if you are carrying them. Good luck!

Since they are fraternal, not identical, that means they run in families. The mother releases two ovum. Identicals split from a single egg and that only happens by chance. Twinning is more likely as a mother ages. Your doctor will be able to tell very early in your pregancy if you are carrying twins. Mine were identified on my second visit.
They are a blast, good luck!!

exciting - on a lighter note i'm no longer concerning Eve this is the call of a goddess that crept into the bible as did quite a few names of different gods together with god. Google Eve or ask the Muslims for Adam's spouse's perfect call. there is reliable biblical information to characterize that Adam and his spouse were no longer the first people on earth. the point is, is that it would not remember - basically earlier tens of millions pour their wrath out on me! :) The section that concerns is they were the first to be created with Yahweh's photo - non secular photo - because we truthfully do not all look an same! We derive as spirit from Yahweh and we go back, after a short sojourn on earth in our earth suites, back to Him. we are spirits otherwise we couldn't have inherited the unique sin from Adam - non secular concepts. there is information of a mitochondrial Eve that lived 250m years in the past yet has everyone chanced on more beneficial than 8 styles of DNA e.g. Noah plus 3 sons and their different halves = 8? i'm off factor - we are spirit beings, without delay inheriting from Adam.

Fertility drugs can increase your chances. There's no gene for having twins. It is possible that women in your family are more fertile, which means the likelihood of having twins is increased.
Twins are more common in older mothers, so don't bet on it this time.

since you have a genetic disposition towards twins, you chances are higher. But no one can give you the odds. Twins are more common in pregnacies of older mothers, regardless of if they had earlier pregnancies. Good luck either way!!
