well the problem could be that your computer is inested with spyware. to solve this get something called adaware personal-se, and something called spybot search and destroy.
also get somthing called zonealarm, and maybe scan for viruses.

Ok so it opens some sites so its got nothing to do with Yahoo. If it worked when you first got it its not your ISP. Sure there are ways to test your internet connection but there is no really reason to bother since if your machine is screwed up it can scew the results.

Are you using dialup or cable/dsl? If you using dialup calling the phone company will get you nowhere. If its cable just call At&T and have someone come out and test the connection. I would do this regardless. I had someone come for a TV issue, my internet was fine but it turned out a connection was not as tight as it could be. My internet got faster.

What I would recommend is doing a system restore. With most computers this is built in or you get a disk. I bought a dell recently and there was a thing about how the built in was only for the operating system and you had to make a disk for the drivers.

Well there are times when one has a major issue when a full restore is in order so I wanted a full disk just to have it.... just in case. I called Dell and 3 times they told me such a disk did not exist, only ones just for the operating system. On my 4th call I found someone who said "of course we have a full disk". They fedexed me one the next day for free. So call and get one now even if you don't need it or have the built in while it will still be free. It could save you a lot of money someday.

Once you do a full restore the computer will be just as the day you got it and then you will be able to narrow down the issue. And of course make sure you have all the antivirus stuff and the firewall worked out. Consider actually going out and buying something like Norton Systemworks. It will automatically take care of and protect against most issues. The free ones? You get what you pay for.

Do you have a firewall? Do you have an Internet Security Service such as Norton loaded on your computer? Do you have dial up service or DSL? Do you have the latest Internet Browser Software loaded on your computer? Do you have an ISP? Do they provid Anti Virus Protection and a Secured Firewall? Check these out and check with the ISP Customer Support Desk & GOOD LUCK! :-)

Based on what you assert. It's difficult to determine what the challenge is. You didn't say whether or not you're making use of High velocity or dial or wi-fi. If you're making use of a wi-fi web, it would be sign barrier challenge. If you're making use of High velocity, it would be spyware and adware challenge, if dial up, would be bandwidth challenge. If you have been making use of you pc good enough earlier than. I do not consider it is pc challenge. Modem vigour surge challenge could also be viable.
