That's because the AFC has way more talent then the NFC does.

Mostly the best QBs. The NFC will eventually catch up and pass the AFC again though, it is the way the NFL goes. The RBs are actually rather equal if you ask me, it is that the AFC has the better passing threat and makes the running threat that much stronger. Oh and the NFC has some good WRs, once again it is about have a good QB/WR combo.

It's the quarterbacks. Look at all the solid starters in the AFC:
Tom Brady
Chad Pennington
Ben Roethlisberger
Carson Palmer
Steve McNair
Peyton Manning
Vince Young
Philip Rivers
In the NFC, the only solid starters are:
Drew Brees
Brett Favre
Eli Manning
Donovan McNabb (when he's not injured)
That's a 2:1 ratio. When you factor in QBs who are actually good, it looks a lot better for the AFC.

Because when the NFC was good they were not rebuilding for the future but the AFC kept on drafting early and improving there teams so when all the good players for the NFC retired the AFC caught up then eventually took oven as the NFL supreme conference
