Here's my list:

"Sledgehammer" ~Peter Gabriel
"the Hardest Button to Button" ~the White Stripes
"Virtual insanity" ~ Jamiroqui
"Fell in Love with a Girl" ~ the White Stripes
"Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" ~the White Stripes
"Tonight Tonight" ~ the Smashing Pumpkins

It's interesting that all of these videos are really dazzling but very low-tech. It's also intersting to note that only one of those songs is in my CD collection. I just think they are spectacular pieces of film.

What videos really inspire and awe you??

White stripes fan...?? I remember seeing the vid for Seven Nation Army the first time and I was absolutely mesmerised- can't wait for the new album, out shortly! Also love the one for Blue Orchid. The video for Just by Radiohead is cool, the mystery of why the guy is lying down etc, it drove me crazy as a youngster but I now realise you aren't supposed to know. I love the vid for Otherside by the RHCP too. Beautiful and very arty and a good song. Into my arms by Nick Cave is very moving, a video of people just bursting into tears, very contagious! Fade out by Radiohead is another good one.

I would go for photography in video clips although in terms of technical advancements Sledge Hammer was fun to watch.
From what comes to my mind...

Madonna's Vogue is interesting
George Michael " Killer (Papa Was a Rolling Stone)
Rolling Stones " Sweet thing"
Michael Jackson's "Thriller" always sticks to my mind and some of his other videos "Black or white"
Run DMC featuring Aerosmith "Rock this way" was fun to watch.
So many out there ....!

"This One" - Paul McCartney
"Boheamian Rhapsody" - Queen
"Mama Im coming home" Ozzy
"Vogue" Madonna

These are so different, but they all have some spark, or something of soul, proffesionalism and talant. As for technology, I don't think it mattered so much back then. Well, it did, but to an extant, not obsessively, or so we d like to believe?:)
