Dodge City, Kansas
Circa 1876
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in the Old West town of Dodge. Marshal Matt Dillon sneaked out ot the house to go to the barn and retrieve his gift for Sunshine MacGillicutty, his girlfriend. It was Mother's Day and Matt wanted to give her a gift from her little puppy, Daisie Dixie. Sunshine was still asleep in the bed she shared with her love. He had finally given up that musty old cot in his office for the comfort and sweetness of THEIR bed. This galled Matt's old girlfriend Miss Kitty, no end!! "He never slept in MY bed for more than an hour or so," she would complain to anyone that cared to listen. (6.) "My Prayer was always that he and I would live together. But NO, not the mighty man. He felt his place was at his office/jail. and he was concerned what people would say. NOW look at him! He keeps house with that idiot Sunshine!
I'll never know what he sees in her!!"
Matt brushed the hay off his gift, left the barn and came back to the house. As he entered the bedroom, he smiled at his sweetheart. She was talking in her sleep, again......(3.) "Three coins in a fountain, buddy? Just three lousy coins?
Look harder, you dimwit. I'm sure there are more! Here. Take these Harbor candles to help you see. (4.)Harbor lights will illuminate your way!!"
Matt started chuckling........."Even in her sleep she makes me laugh." He sat on the edge of the bed. "Sunny? SunnyMac? You're talking in your sleep again." Sunshine awoke with a start........(5.) "Dream along with me, MattBaby," she purred as she cuddled under the blanket.
Matt:" Time to get up, darlin'. Happy Mother's Day." She opened her eyes. No one had said that to her ever before.
"Daisie Dixie and I have a gift for you, little mommy."
Sunshine smiled like a child on Christmas morning. She sat up in bed and Matt handed her the gift. Just then, little puppy jumped up on the bed. Matt:" Now the whole family's here." Sunshine wiped a tear from her eye as she opened the gift. It was a photo of Matt and little one. Sunshine was stunned. She had only seen a few photographs in her life. "Oh, Matt. Where did you get this?" He explained how he had taken Daisie Dixie with him over to Hayes City the day a photgrapher was going to be in town. Sunshine 's eyes glistened with tears. Matt: "Are those tears?" He held her in his arms. "
Sunshine:" No....just some stars." He hugged her tightly. He loved the way she had funny little names for things. Matt:"You're a whimsical girl, to be sure, Sunshine MacGillicutty and I wouldn't have it any other way." As one of her tears rolled down her cheek........Matt gently stopped it with his finger......"Let me (2.) Catch a falling star."

The harbor lights are shining on the water, its a beautiful day! I just threw three coins in a fountain and made a wish.I wished a happy Mother's day to all the wonderful mothers out there!
My prayer is that my own beautiful mother will live forever. You can all come dream along with me, I have the best dreams!
While your dreaming, don't let the stars get in your eyes,just reach out and catch a falling star if one comes along!
Then put it in your pocket and save it for a rainy day!

My Prayer, for My Mother on this Day. Is to be at Peace with herself. Follow this Dream along with me. See who my Mother really is. To have her as my Mother is as fortunate as catching a falling star. Strangely enough. I still hear her telling me "Don't let the stars get in yur eyes". It's her way of keeping us firmly on the ground. The harbour Lights of her Life. Have gone towards its sunset. I toss three coins in a fountain. Hoping that she sleeps in peace.

There were occasions wherein I notion he allow me down, and you already know what- It all became out to be for the nice. I suppose that god has performed not anything however smile upon me on account that the day I used to be born :)
