These are whole, raw, in-shell Macadamia Nuts from Hawaii.

Macadamia nuts are native to Australia and are not naturally squirrel food as there are no squirrels in Australia. If squirrels can gnaw through the very hard shell, there should be no problem but I would be more inclined to put out nuts like acorns that they were used to.
