Guantanamo is a lease agreement between the US and Cuba, which the US refuses to abandon. Cuba wants the US out but can't legally evict us unless we fail to pay the
rent. This we d o regularly and faithfully, however Cuba has never cashed these checks, in modern times !

If you choose to draw comparisons regarding our longevity in a country under duress, check the 38th parallel between North and South Korea, which is where the US has maintained a sizable army since 1950 !

We will stay in Iraq, no shorter and no longer, than we have stayed in Germany and Japan. In short we will always keep a military presence in the area. We may not always be there to keep the peace but we will always keep a presence there, just in case.
