A baby duck is a duckling, a baby goose is a gosling, is a baby loon a loonling? ;-) Just kidding, but what do you really call a baby loon?

Most baby birds are called "chicks" if we have not given a specific name to a species' young, and I'm pretty sure that the loon does not a specific term. The word "hatchling" can also be used.

I guess it would be called a chick. Although loonling or loonlet sounds pretty cute, too. I know baby swans are called cygnets, and baby pigeons are called squabs. Sorry, more information than you asked for ;- )
