15,600 = 14000 + x(.08)
1,600 = x(.08)
x = 20,000

here's how i figured this one out. I took the extra 1600 betty made from sales and divided it by the 8%. The total was 20,000. and theres your answer she would have to sell more then 20,000 worth of whatever she is selling. If i was her though i would be looking for a new job. LOL

Let x = sales required to meet salary goal of $15,600

Then
14,000 + 0.08x = 15,600

0.08x = 1,600

x = $20,000
