She's passable as best. And she didn't write the movies, they were written by a screenplay writer who based them on her novels, so I don't really get why you use the movies as a example.

If anyone wants to know if JK Rowlings is a "great writer" or not they have to read atleast one of the novels.

I've read the first few novels and as I said, she's passable. A mediocre writer, pretty much.

Actually yes:

She pacts so much detail into books, it's quite astounding. I watch the film directors try to create the same thing as she does in her books, for the screen, and they seem to skip a few parts in the making. I really do like the films, and it's a shame all the details cannot be in the movie, but what can you do. We all need inspiration from others, and so what if she used a technique from another writer.

Imagine, most of the events in the movies were put into the book; and having to write that in a way that it is almost real is pure craft and art.

Harry Potter is written amazingly!! i like Hermione and Luna and intensely of having a weigh down on Edward or Jacob, who has a weigh down on Harry Potter? to blame! The plots are amazingzingzing and there is by no skill a lifeless 2d, PLUS there is a few romance thrown in alongside the way.

i think she's got a great imagination and to ome up with the sotries and egerything is amazing. that's what's made her great, if she were to write a book about say... i dno nuclear power stations, you wouldn't read that and think wow she's a great writer. i don't think she does have like.. great skill more than anyone else with words, its jus the story itself and how she arranges ad strictures the novels to give away little like... clues about what's going to happen fi you get m. i love the harry potter boks though, i'm not saying she's a rubbish writer with a good imagination, i just wouldn't describe her writing TECHNIQUE alone as great.

and even tho the films wer rewritten by as screenplays... what i said about the actual story line that she invented is still true. so i think you could see the films alone and still think the same as ido, that she has an amazing imagination and skill for storytelling.. simply... storytelling, not necessarily story writing. im not making sense i feel but i no wot i mean!
