I recently built a computer and have yet gotten to the BIOS screen. Computer boots up fine with one beep. But trying to figure out why when I don't have the monitor hooked up it says no signal (monitor is crt, has worked before) but when I try to hook up the video cable (with an dvi adapter) it blanks out. Is the video card fried or just the adapter doesn't respond to it. I bought the adapter from best buy open box, so someone returned it but the video card is brand new so I don't know if I fried it or not.

i had the same problem with mine, it loads the bios and then the manufacturer screen, then that's it won't load windows at all, yeah, your video card is gone to the sh*tter. Might as well get a new one.

What is your video card's make and model? What is your power supply's wattage? Your card has only DVI ouput, so it could be a powerful card and your power supply (esp. the +12V rail)may be inadequate.
