Ummm, your gums bleed when you floss...because you don't floss ! The bacteria living on trapped food, sometimes microscopic trapped food, has weakened your gums. Floss for a week or two and your gums will no longer bleed.

People who do not floss will end up getting root canal work done when their in their 40s.
Flossing with floss is better than nothing, however, to really clean you need to use a water pic. This not only get the particles between teeth but will get below the gum line where the bacteria is hiding.
While you can add mouth wash to the water in a water pic (one that uses a pump and not one that is hooked to your facuet) adding the mouth wash will make it more effective at killing the bacteria.
The BEST thing to use is "POVIDONE-IODINE" solution. Add enough to the water to make it the color of weak tea. You can get this at most pharmacies although they may not have it in stock they can get it in a couple of days. My local grocery has a pharmacy and they get the 8oz bottle for me and it costs $2.00 and this will last a couple of months.
Povidone-iodine is different from regular iodine. It kills bacteria but won't stain like regular iodine......it is still a dark red-brown color.....
By the way, my brother is a dentist and his comment was
"If you use a water pic daily, I can allmost guaruntee that you will not ever need a root canal"
Best water pic on the market? Use Hydro-floss. You can get it on e-bay cheaper than in the stores........

I buy the flossers....individual floss picks, about 100 per bag. I have to have them in my purse all the time, and I actually I have a habit of constantly flossing throughout the day....and yessss....it feels great, massaging the gums too.

Its hard for me to floss cause i have braces. But i try my best to floss when i can. Otherwise i stick to just brushing my teeth 2 times a day.
