Hi, I have an Hp a1730n with about 1.9 gigs of physical memory and an AMD 5000+ processor. I wanted to get the new PNY Geforce 8600 GT (350 W power requirement) video card that came out a month ago, but I found out that my power supply has only 300 watts. Do I have to buy a new one, or can I just use this one without putting my computer at risk?

You will be slightly overloading if you dont increase the available current. I would suggest a 400 or 450 watt supply and leave yourself a little head room so to speak. The new video cards do need a large supply.

If you put it into your existing system you may well crash the power supply. It might happen slowly but it will overtax its ability.
