I am having to use an old monitor at the moment as our flat screen has blown up!!
We seem to be having a problem with fitting what is on the screen all on the screen in one go. We have to keep pushing the edges of the screen to enable us to see what is on the whole page - if that explains it a little better.
Could anyone help us by telling us what we need to do to adjust the screen settings so we can see the whole page in one go ionstead of having to push all around the edges in different directions to see it all. We use Windows XP home edition.
I hope you understand what I am trying to explain.
Thanks,
Jane.

Driver... Driver problem is what is showing up on your system. You have to first check to see that your Video driver is installed properly. If this is so, then you have to consider setting your resolution. Right click on the desktop and choose property, Click Setting and do the setting appropraitely. If you cannot see under the Color quality pulldown, if you can not find option which is more than 16bit then you have to install a right graphics (Video) driver. To do this, click on My Computer and choose property Click on Device Manager and see is your video driver is having a problem... If it is you have to install the right driver...

That should solve the problem. Best of Luck.

Right click on a spare area of screen. Adjust the resolution to 800 x 600 for a start and then click the Advanced button and go to the monitor tab. Ensure you can select 72Hz or higher. That is the recommended refresh rate for saving your eyes from too much hassle.

If you have a monitor that is 17" diagonal, try increasing the resolution to 1024 x 800 so long as the monitor will handle 72 Hz or higher.

You will probably find something you are comfortable with.

Other tabs in the Display Properties will allow you to change your icon size, adjust the horizontal and vertical spacing to fit more desktop on the screen.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask if you need more help.

It could be the settings on the monitor itself that need adjustment, rather than the computer settings.

You don't give the make and model of the monitor. For example mine is a Dell and on the front there's a button marked 'Enter'. When you press that you can access settings to adjust the screen height and width so if yours has something like that it may be worth a try!

Right click on an open space on your desk top and then click Properties. This opens the Display Properties window. Now click the Settings tab. Here is where you can set screen resolution. Try setting your resolution a little lower and see if that helps.

This problem is a breakdown in communication between your TV and your computer, not with HDMI. You need to right click on the desktop and hit properties. Then you need to find the resolution slider bar (probably on the right tab). Most likely the resolution for that TV is 1920X1080. But it may also be 1280X1080, 1024X1080, 1366X768, 1280X720. Or even 1024X768. Maybe your video card can't create a resolution that your TV can display...You might just have to fool around with it a little bit to get it to work.

Assuming the Properties settings appear to be appropriate, like 1024 x 768, you could check Advanced setting to see if refresh Hz is suitable. If these appear OK, there should be some buttons on the monitor to adjust displayed size etc.

depending on how old the monitor is, you may not be able to fit it all on the screen. Odds are the highest resolution is 800x600. If so, you will just have to deal with it until you replace the flat screen. But if not, just increase the resolution.
