It was started by a tired, stressed-out Mom who just had nothing left.
She was just mentally, emotionally, and physically wore out, and thought she might get everyone to to let up for a couple of hours.
She was wrong. It resulted in our families pestering us to celebrate by taking us places and making us do stuff that they think we should like.
So we go along with it because we love the little
crumb snatchers and we live for the look on their faces when they see that they've done something that makes us happy.
And we wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Mother's Day.

In the United States, Mother's Day was copied from England by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War. Howe wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation. In the UK, the day now simply celebrates motherhood and thanking mothers. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.

Mothers' Day Started in Greece to honor Rhea, the mother of ancient Greek gods. England, 17th century, was called Mothering Day. They would bake a mothering cake and take it to their mothers to honor them. Julia Howe in the United States, dedicated the first Mothers' Day in 1872 to peace, after the Civil War. Jarvis started a nationwide campaign for a federal holiday, May 10, 1908. First state to honor this was W Virginia in 1910. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed it a National holiday in 1914, second Sunday in May. My mother died when I was a baby. I know that she has watched over me all my life. I do honor her every year, with my six children and eight grandchildren. I know she would be proud. :D
