We found a propane tank in the middle of our backyard How do we get rid of it and how'd it get there?

My Dad was mowing our lawn yesterday when he was surprised to see a propane gas tank in the middle of our yard How do we find who did it and How do we get rid of it?

It probably has the handle with 5 indentations. This makes it unrefillable since the new 3 indentation handles are on the new fill valve type. You can probably take it to a propane filling station (some U-Hauls) and drop it off. No way to find who it belonged to but please dispose of it properly and safely.

Someone probably dumped it in your lawn the night before. If you don't want to handle it you probably need to call the city and let them know. They will be able to tell you who to call for removal and they will do it for free. That is really weird!!
