Well, if they are a good friend, it shouldn't be to hard to tell them. I would ask if they are having problems paying their water bill, or if their washing machine is busted. Make sure you tell them when no one else is around, they maybe suffering from depression. Let them know you weren't sure exactly how to say it without hurting their feelings before you tell them they smell, and try to find out if there are any other reasons as to why they smell. I am thinking you've known this person for a while and they just recently started to stink.

Seriously though, does your friend have any health problems that could be causing such an offensive odor? Or is your friend simply unkept?

If it's medical, then sit your friend down and tell them that their disease is causing this problem, and that it's imperative that they seek medical attention. If it's simply a case of poor hygiene, then trust me, they know that their *** is reaking.

The decision is yours after you confront him/her. If it's medical, allow them time to make adjustments under medical advice. If it's personal hygiene, then you get to decide if you want to be around someone who causes your eyes to water and bring chunks of partially digested food back into your mouth.

Just so you know, when people smell b/o, they think all of you guys stink. You know what they say, "Birds of a feather, flock together." So if you're not a stinky bird, I suggest you get on this immediately. People might already think that you stink too.

well i always tell it like it is and all my friends know this. so you can either beat around the bush and give hints or come right out with it being nice but blunt and tell that person you need a shower and you need clean clothes. if they do bathe/shower then it could be a medical condition. if thats the case they need to get checked out. as i always say i'd rather be hated for being a friend and telling them the truth and the way it is then be hated for someone im not(fake)..

Hmm....swamp water huh?
Invite them to go swimming and tell them it's the rules that you have to shower before you get in the pool.
Hand them some toiletry samples if they 'forgot' theirs, and say you have extra.
Afterwards, make lots of comments of how great they smell, better yet get someone of the opposite sex to compliment them on smelling great.

i think you need to be open . Go into shops and start sprayin deoderant and saying `mmm thats nice - what do u wear ? ` Maybe over power yourself so your friend says ` jesus how much spray do u have to wear ?` and then you can say ` I love to smell good - dont u ?` Good luck !
