Mine is The Little Mermaid. I like it because it's different to most because it doesn't have a happy ending. What do you like, and why?

Little red riding hood, nothing like getting ravished by a big bad wolf.

Beauty and The Beast (all versions from traditional to Disney to ballet). I like the idea that the heroine is strong minded and an independent enough thinker to not "judge a book by it's cover" and that she is intelligent as well as beautiful. I also like that things don't just "work out" to a happyily ever after, but that both the hero and heroine actually grow and change - Together :)

I like Ivan the Fool. It is a russian traditional fairytale.

It has a lot of interpretations but the context is always the same: three brothers, ivan is the youngest, two elder brothers - handsome and strong - always fail to tackle the problem and Ivan is always a winner due to his kindness, quick mind and agility.

The Ugly Duckling. The bird was not a duck at all, but a swan. Baby swans often look un-attractive when young ; they develop later into the beautiful swans that we know. The mother duck obviously sat on a swan's egg, which took long to hatch.

Hey, mine is also The Little Mermaid. It's unique, unpredictable, cute and I adore the sea. My childhood fantasy has always been to become a mermaid.

The Seven Swans. Another story that doesn't have a happy ending.

My favourite interpretation has witchcraft as well, which is always good.

Not the matterwoks interpretation!

I'd have to say Cinderella. Mostly because I loved it as a child and then when I was single I placed an ad in a newspaper with this ad: "Cinderella looking for her prince (my name is Cindy) and my future husband answered it because his last name is Prince. We'll soon be married 16 years. " :o)
