Yes. 1/3 is a fraction; the top number (1) is the "numerator" and the bottom (3) is the "denominator." When denominators between fractions are the same, simply add the numerators. In this case, 1/3 + 1/3 = (1+1)/3 = 2/3.

You don't have a full cup measuring cup? Well- what are you making? If you're baking a cake, cookies, brownies- then you need to be exact. But if it's not baking- close enough will work- use your 3/4 cup and use a little less than that. Your 3/4 cup is .75 of a cup and 2/3 of a cup is .67 of a cup.

yes, you are correct.
1/3+1/3=2/3
Since both bottom numbers are the same, just add up the top numbers.

think of cuttin a cake,, to understand fractions,,.
say you cut a cake into 3 pieces and took 2
and another day you cut the same cake to the same 3 pieces,, and took 1 pieces first and then the other piece
now that would be you taking 1/3 of the cake once then another 1/3 so thats 2 pieces of cake of the original 3,, whcih is equal to the first 2/3 of the cake,,
try to understand what your doin then its much easier,, have fun!!!

Indeed it is.
But would you then say the cup was 1/3 empty, or 2/3 full?
