If you belive he should be penalized , then what kind of punishment do you feel will be fitting for Kaka ?

I am expecting answers mainly from the Brasilian fans although a thoughtful answer from anyone will be welcomed as well.

I have beginning to doubt Kaka's and Ronaldinho's loyalty and committment to Brazil. (Ronaldinho is always underperforming whenever he wears the yellow and blue jersey)

yes he should be penalized for not wanting to play beacuse that shows how much he cares for his countries team about ronaldinho i read that he does want to play in the copa america but youre right when hes in brasil team he plays horrible you know what they care more about there clubs that they play for now than the selecao i dont beleive one bit that kaka is tired as a brasilian fan im so dissapointed in kaka and he should be punished and the punishment would be kick him off the national team since he doesnt feel like playing he should be helping his country win i know that brasil is not all kaka but we must admit kaka is a wonderful player and it will help alot that he was there but i guess he doesnt want his team to win..... very bad decision kaka made

What is this idea of penalizing him? The very idea is rediculous for the following reasons:

He can not play in every single competition involving him.

Surely the Champions League is more important than the Copa America!

He has already played in the World Cup and nearly every other competition involving Brazil.

It is not as if the Brazilians are doomed without him; there are still Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano, Roberto Carlos, Alex, Cafu, Dida, Lucio, Marcos, Roque Junior, Robinho, Juninho and numerous other rising stars.

No. He's tired and he need a rest. He's not having any rest since 2005. He represented Brazil in the confederations cup in 2005 and 2006 world cup so it's 2 years without a proper rest. He's human not machine. He might not be able to help Brazil if he's not in the form so why not replace him with another player. I'm sure there's a lot of good players from their league. Anyway it's only Copa America, they still need him in the 2010 world cup qualifier next year.

Ever since Kaka emerged Brazil is having problems because he doesn't have their style. He should be the one on the bench, not Ronaldinho, because Ronaldinho is a much more creative and humble player than Kaka, even though many people say otherwise.

Kaka is loyal to Brazil amd Milan but i understand his decision Milan depends on him very much so he doesnot get changed in any game and hr doesnot take any rest but in brasil's latest friendly games he was always the best player in the team and their top scorer as well

No, he shouldnt, its not the first time that happens, alot of times players have refused to play with his national team when they play a small tournament like this.
Saying this, brasil usally plays young players in the Copa America.

No, Brazil is loaded with talent, there is no need for Kaka to play so why penalize him.

Kaka should represent his team with his grace and style.I think he should think it over before he regrets it if not Kaka should be fined for rebelling.I take without Kaka is like having no samba with the dance group.

I don't think that he should be penalised. He asked not to be chosen as part of the squad because he is tired and has not taken a break. Brazil will be able to do well even without him. He is not indispensable. Even if he was to play in the game, i think he will not be able to perform as he is quite worn out.
He has 'played 180 games in three years without taking a break for two of them'.

depends on how the brazilian football authorities will look at it... according to kaka, he hasn't had a break for three seasons... if he carry on playing, fatigue and injuries may caught up... and milan and brazil will be losers in the end...
