In July 14 1987, three storms on top of another dumped 102 mm of rain in just two hours on Montreal: one could literally not see across the street, it was all a white blanket!
And given that it caused $220 million in dammage, it was scary. Basements were flodded, a major semi-ressess higheway was flooded and turned into a river, people died drowning in their car!

No, never been scared. I've been around the country and seen it rain very hard in Florida, Louisiana, Texas but the hardest is right here in Los Angeles where I live. A rare thunderstorm came through and it dropped 3 1/2 inches of rain in 45 minutes. It rained so hard I could not see the house across the street, about 70 feet. I have several rain gauges so I know how much it rained.

Yeah. During Hurricane Charley, it rained as if there was no tomorrow. I was scared about it because i was afraid the lake near me would get flooded.
