how is it possible????
i mean, we're like not accepted in church
thats why i became non-religious. i have virtually no faith once i learned that christianity and its branches didn't accept gay people into their community
its horrible and disriminatory
i thought they preached about unity in a society and love with one another, no matter who
it doesn't add up at all

thank you for the responses BUT
i know we all live in sins
but Christianity, God, Jesus, the Bible dont exactly condemn heterosexuality at all do they?
they pinpoint homosexuality like a disease. remember we are all humans, and really if wanted to follow Jesus, i would, but its holding out against me from the singling out. a priest recently told me that i was living in sin and that i was an "unfortunate" person to be put under this myself. no offence, but i still see this is an abusing of my own morales and rights in soceity and religion

living gay is for your whole life, therefore your living life as a sin for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.
other sins are not long lasting till your death.
thats what i find hard about christianity on me

mate...just remember this, you don't have to go to church to talk to god. if there is a god, i don't think he'd favour any parlicular religion. i think he'd be more concerned about the way you lived your life and how you treated others. start your own religion!!

Those that say that the bible condemns homosexuality are not reading it correctly. They are taking things out of context, they are misreading it and the translations that are currently in use are WRONG.
Why, are they wrong? Because the bible was written in three different languages. You need to take into account when each section was written and what the meaning of the word was at the time.
Take for example the word f a g g o t. In the US we take this to mean a homosexual man. In the UK it means a cigarette, but both of those are slang....the actual meaning is a bundle of sticks..(thus the UK in a lot closer to but still not the same as the original)
Or, the word gay. Again we think a homosexual man. But, the really word means happy.
Now, we have the problem of three dead languages that were used to write a book over 2000 years old. If you don't look at how the words were used at the time each section was written how do you get a good translation....YOU DON"T
The old testament was thrown out by Jesus. The only part of it that was retained were the 10 commandments. There is no commandment about homosexuality. Why, because it's not a sin.
or example, many Christians don't know that:
* Jesus says nothing about same-sex behavior.
* The Jewish prophets are silent about homosexuality.
* Only six or seven of the Bible's one million verses refer to same-sex behavior in any way -- and none of these verses refer to homosexual orientation as it's understood today.
Finally, to see the counter arguments of why each section of the bible that mentions homosexuality in detail read:

Now, does the bible say anything positive about homosexuality?

I am a christian, but not gay. I must say that this world is intolerant of peoples differences, no matter what they are. This is sad to hear, never let the opinion of others come between you and God. There will always be something that is held against people because of the hypocricy of religion. You can love God, you can be a Christian. God loves all people, and anyone who can't see this is blind. Love yourself and others unconditionally as God loves you, embrace your God, have no worries about others opinions.
In this life you must be strong and have faith. If no others accept you, I accept you. No matter the faith of lack of, no matter the sexual preference, no matter the color of skin, I accept all on the basis of love. If we can not love oneanother despite our differences are we no better than the hypocrites who have driven you from the building of the church?
We are better than that, and embracing our differences makes us whole.
God loves you, I love you and am heartily sorry for the prejudices you suffer at the hands of others. I would embrace you, not reject you.

Keep your chin up! And please, take advice only from the answers of people who have experienced what you're going through. People spouting off answers about "you can't be both gay and a Christian", and comparing straight temptations toward adultery to being gay, are things easily said by those who have no idea what you're experiencing, and are in no way directing you toward an answer.
There are churches that do accept gays, and I'm sure you can find information on a few in your area on the web. And here are some things to remember as you continue to learn who you are:
1. Searching for religion and being gay will pull you in two directions for the rest of your life, unless you find YOUR OWN level of comfort with how the two interact, not someone else's.
2. "Heterosexual" people will judge you to eternity, as some feel they were blessed with a more "normal" lifestyle and can therefore, pass out free and unwanted advice and criticism.
3. Learn to love yourself, as it will ease a lot of troubles in the future.
4. Life will be full of injustices---the alcoholic, heterosexually-promiscuous, adulterers and thieves will almost always be more acceptable to society than gays.
BUT, the fact that you were concerned enough with balancing and understanding Christianity and its relation to being gay that you asked this question is a huge, wonderful step. Make your own example of a loving and fair God.
And on a final note, pick up a copy of the book, 'The Well of Loneliness' by Radclyffe Hall. I'm sure you will really identify with the book, and since it was written in 1928, it's a nice reminder that gay men and women have struggled with fitting their beliefs into a heterosexual world since the beginning of humanity.
Good luck, and I mean it.

Gays are accepted by many denominations these days, and the list is growing. Try a Quaker meeting.
Historicly, this bigotry comes and goes, and is presently going away again. Gay marriage has been practised in Christian churches for over 15 centuries and is coming back. Churches are leaving the bigotry behind and returning to Jesus.

We know how hard it is to be gay and also be a Christian. Have you ever thought how hard it is for a Christian to realize he or she is gay?
It is a 2 way street and some people try to make it one way only to collide with someone going against the traffic.
Remember that some of the most dangerous anti-gay people that you will run into, have never been in a church. They hate you because you are different, not because they were taught that in Sunday school.
That's not to say that there are no hateful and dangerous Christians. They exist, but so do hateful gays exist. Some of my relatives are overly Christian but I have learnt to tolerate them as long as they tolerate me.

Well at least you still have your faith. Most LGBT centers have churches that preach without dwelling on homosexuality being a sin, look into those.
But the 2 aren't mutually self exclusive. The church also looks down on divorce, but Christians still divorce and go to church, that's also a sin that is with them the rest of their lives.
So I understand what you're saying, and I agree it's a shame.

In my opinion, I think that your question is contradictory. "How do you live life being gay and Christian?" You cannot. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the old person dies and we become new creatures. We do not desire to live the sinful life that we once led. If you are a Christian, then you know that homosexuality is wrong. I am not saying that you are not Christian and that you are not sincere in your love for the Lord, but you are living in sin if you are still a practicing homosexual. I do however, think that you should be accepted in church. The church is for sinners, if we were all perfect then we would have no need for church, we would all be like Jesus. And we can never be 100% like Jesus, but we can strive to be Christ-like. I am not condemning you or trying to judge you because you are a homosexual. But, you say that you are Christian. I urge you to really study the bible and to see what God says about your lifestyle. The bible also says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We are ALL sinners.

I think that everyone blows this whole religion thing out of the water. The bible is preached by alot of priest / people etc that judge others because of lifestyles we choose to live. We were given life and if "God" was so against same sex couples etc.. do you think he would of created us? MAybe people should stop and ask themselves the question -is it us that live our life as same sex couples etccc being judged by "God" or is it the ones that preach the bible etc stating that is it wrong and judging others ,the one's that "God" is judging? Because "God" states that no man shall judge another! I don't think people realize that "God" test everyone's faith in him. If we are sinners etc... so are the ones that are judging someones else's life etc....

There are religions that will accept you and allow you to do your own thing. No problems. However if its God's holiness and eternal life in heaven you want-then "religion" will not do.
You have a choice. Trust God and follow Him, or trust your sinful nature and follow it.
Religion is useless. God repeatedly warns us about it in the Bible. If you reject God, He will reject you. He will let you have your way if thats more important to you. Read about it in Romans 1:18-32. Pay close attention to verses 24-27. It specifically discusses "your" desires.
Is God discriminatory? Yes!, but only against sin.

I don't know... Ask a priest... LOL
Yes... Homosexuality is considered a sin by the church... but The Gospel is for sinners and would be completely unnecessary to those without sin. Who amongst them who is without sin should cast the first stone... etc... We are all sinners and accepting Jesus will not make us perfect in an instant or ever in this life. He works with us and changes us over time...
Perhaps God has something for you to work on that's more important... or first needs to teach you something you need to learn before being able to progress further... That's between you and God. No human has the right to judge you like that.
My advice... Try to get closer to God through Jesus... Stay far away from the churches full of those who attempt to hide their sins and will discriminate against you for being honest about yours. Who has a better start towards perfection??? NOBODY'S perfect... From what I've seen... most churches have become quite corrupt. They're money-makers that offer people a chance to social climb through being the biggest contributor... most mindless follower... most annoying evangelist (No... Jesus didn't act like that)... 2nd rate musicians can get their butts kissed for providing free entertainment and bringing in more cash... "Sermons" are often more like commercials for the church, telling you to bring more people (money). Jesus made it possible for you to come back to God through him alone. The Holy Spirit is here to guide you. No priest or church is necessary. My advice... Stay away...
About the new parts to your question... As you become closer to God... develop a relationship... learn how much he loves you... as your love for him grows stronger... As you understand more about what obedience and sacrifice can bring into your life and how sacrifice enables God to save others... As you come to understand that we all are drawn to some sort of sin and must sacrifice at times to keep our relationship with God when he asks it... Who's to say what you will or won't be willing to do when God asks you??? You don't know the person you might become later on and neither does anybody else!!! I'm sure a part of Jesus would have rather done something else instead of being crucified. He asked God if it could be avoided if possible. But, he obeyed. Maybe if you keep praying and studying, obeying when you can, developing a closer relationship with God... once you know more of what he knew... you might be asked to sacrifice something and obey as well... Who knows??? Who knows what God might ask of you first and what he may never ask of you???
