Why do men have higher SAT scores and IQ's?

Question

Men average approximately 4 points high on IQ tests worldwide, and approx. 35 points higher on the SAT. Even on the verbal section of the SAT, men scored 9 points high on average. Please, someone explain this to me.

The latest study from Canada reports that 17- to 18-year-old males have a slight edge in IQ, based on an analysis of more than 100,000 SAT scores.

The study's accuracy can hardly be doubted. please explain to me the reasons why such a weird anomaly in intelligence exists; it seems counterintuitive.

It is likely test construction error. The tests are both rigged so that males and females will score the same, but the tests are tested on much smaller populations. Any question that would result in one being higher than another is thrown out. It sounds like both have one biased question that was otherwise unknown as having a trivial bias.

When you construct tests, you estimate the mean and the variance is a function of the population size. As the population approaches infinity, the variance approaches zero. Because the tests are based upon large samples (1000) people or so, the variance falls, but individual questions that fall inside the variance but shift the mean are missed.

The results have no meaning except that there is a "rogue question," out there.

A more interesting observation is that the variance is larger for men in both tests than for women. There are more male geniuses in any given 1000 males and more males who are mentally retarded than there are female geniuses and females who are retarded. This implies that intelligence at least partly sits on the X gene and the Y gene is uninvolved. Genius, like retardation, is likely the result of the inability of genes to counterbalance a genetic error.

IQ and SAT scores are no indicator of actual ability when it comes to actual work. Neither do they have any affect on how good a personality someone has. IQ and SATs also do not guarantee common sense or success. As they used to say, the proof is in the pudding.
