Demand that your local electrical supplier switch from coal to nuclear or alternative energy sources. Coal burned for electrical use is a huge poluter. Granted there are problems with nuclear power, but it is more stable and more reliable than wind, solar and hydroelectric power.

Use less power by buying fluorescent light bulbs, buy a hybrid car, buy Energy Star appliances, unplug TVs and coputers when not in use (up to 70% of a TV's power is used when it's off due to 'phantom power usage').
