Mnemonics are letters/words/words that help one memorize something. for instance: PEDMAS people ingesting scrumptious Meat At Steakhouse Parenthesis, Exponents, branch, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction (order of operations).

You look at a room that you spend a lot of time in and create an order of things to look at.
If it was a classroom, you may say- 1. Look at the black board. 2. Look at the Teacher desk 3. Look at the student desks 4. Look at the clock.
And each day look at these things and remember their order (the order is very important)
Then, say you need to memorize some presidents in order. Say "Washington is like a blank slate- like the black board. Lincon led us out of the civil war- like the teacher at the teacher desk. Bill Clinton reformed education like the student desks, and George W. Bush's term will never finish- like the clock."
and you associate what you need to memorize with these memory blocks that you've created. The more things in the room you remember in order, the longer order you can memorize of other, unrelated things.
I've done this up to around 30 using things in my car- and it works great and fast but requires a bit of commitment to keep the memory blocks fresh. -you have to go over that basic list often.

pemdas - the order of operations. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division from left to right, addition and subtraction.
In science - the planetary order:
I used to use My very educated mother just served us nine pizzas but now that pluto's status is in question I use - My very educated mother just served us NOTHING.
