Leakage.

If the body is not perfectly insulated the charge can escape. If the insulator is the slightest bit damp just with humid air it will remove the charge quickly. If it is exposed to UV light this can knock the electrons out.

A body with static charge on it loses charge to its surroundings. For example, it could start ionizing the air around it.

Another example is clouds, which lose their charge to the ground in the form of lightning.

Humidity ,if it is over 50% the charge will leak off quickly.
