I've been saying that for a while now. I see a lot of his stuff as more urban poetry than rap. If he put it all in a book so it could be read without the music, I think a lot of people would be surprised at just how much feeling there is in some of his lyrics. And to just read them as poetry would give them a whole new perspective. I think we could be on to something here!

You do? No, love, you're not a sad git. I can envision people studying Eminem's lyrics in the future but not like Wordsworth or (gasp) Shakespeare. You're not too old to appreciate Eminem at all. I'm almost 45 and still love Morrissey :o)

Maybe, they will study his lyrics. when I was in school in the 70's, we studied lyrics to songs by James Taylor and Carly Simon. I learned a lot about what their songs were really about.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying music and lyrics of all types ...no matter what your age.

I am 51 years old and there are several songs of Eminem's that I like. I have a young son, so I learned to listen to his music, too.

I think everyone should be their own individual self and enjoy what they like in life instead of being fit into a certain category. Music, included.

I understand you, man. I'm not in that age, but it makes sense. Hey, maybe it will be read. Along with Biggie's and Tu Pac's. Now, Pac had a lot to say. He's somewhat of a poet. Although some will disagree. And one reason is because they don't know how hard is life in the ghetto. Peace!

I don't know if anyone will study him, since I never studied Pink Floyd (or any other musician) in my lame *** school. BUT I think he is a genius, very clever (not Beastie Boy clever-way beyond that). Great music speaks for itself---you are not a sad git (lol), just have good taste.

I agree with you. However I doubt Mr Mathers will ever be studied in schools simply because of alot of the content. I think he is very topical and you only have to listen to something like Mosh to realise that all though he's grown up in the ghetto he is smart enough to understand his own political environment. I think there's alot of rap and hip-hop that people ignore due to it's way of saying things however if it's not studied on the whole in colleges I would be greatly surprised!

Some of his lyrics are very clever and I think he is talented.. but as to whether they will be tought in school in the future, I think that would be a no! Unless kids of the future are going to spend their lessons learning how to swear...

You're probably right - wasn't til I saw an interview I realised
like the lyric or not - the bloke had a point that obviously struck a chord with the generation he targets.

I studied Bob Dylan in high school, so who knows. It would depend on the teacher. They teach far more ridiculous things than Eminem I don't see it as far fetched.
